Prestbury Golf Club Raises Over £2,900 for Cheshire Mind as Charity of the Year 2025

Cheshire Mind is delighted to announce that Prestbury Golf Club has raised over £2,900 in support of our local mental health services after selecting us as their Charity of the Year for 2025.
The nomination came from Club Captain, Martin Prescott, who chose Mind in recognition of the growing importance of mental wellbeing and the need to support people experiencing challenges with their mental health.
Nestled in the heart of Cheshire’s countryside, Prestbury Golf Club is one of the county’s most prestigious and picturesque clubs — known for its stunning course, welcoming membership, and strong community values. Throughout the year, members and guests came together to take part in fundraising competitions, raffles, and social events, all contributing to this remarkable total.
Reflecting on his choice, Martin shared his personal motivation behind supporting Mind:
“I chose Mind as our Charity of the Year because I’ve seen firsthand the impact that mental health challenges can have on people’s lives, both personally and within our wider community. Mind does incredible work providing support, guidance, and hope to those who need it most, and I wanted our members to be part of that positive change.”
— Martin Prescott, Captain, Prestbury Golf Club
Martin’s enthusiasm was matched by the dedication of the club’s management and members, who embraced the partnership wholeheartedly. Their efforts highlight the growing recognition that mental wellbeing is as vital as physical health, and that local organisations can play a crucial role in promoting it.
Club General Manager, Stuart Finlay, added that the partnership has been as rewarding for the club as it has been impactful for the community:
“We’re very pleased to have supported a local charity where we know the funds raised will directly benefit local people across Cheshire. As a responsible and proactive Club, Prestbury is committed to giving back to our community, and this partnership with Mind has been a wonderful way to do that.”
— Stuart Finlay, General Manager, Prestbury Golf Club
The funds raised by Prestbury Golf Club will go directly towards local counselling, training, and wellbeing services, ensuring that individuals and families across Cheshire can access the right help when they need it most.
Mind Cheshire would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Martin, Stuart, and all Prestbury members for their generosity, compassion, and commitment to improving mental health in our community.
Together, we are making a difference — one conversation, one connection, and one act of kindness at a time.
