North Staffs Mind has launched a new counselling service

North Staffs Mind has launched a new counselling service to support the mental wellbeing of people living and working in North Staffordshire.

The service will offer rapid access to counselling at an affordable cost, without lengthy waiting lists and at convenient times for clients. There will be no limit on the number of sessions offered with clients being able to book as many – or as few – sessions as they require. Counselling will initially be delivered via telephone and online sessions with face to face counselling planned once the current lockdown period ends.

North Staffs Mind, which already provides a range of mental health service including counselling through the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Wellbeing Service, has developed the service to meet growing demand.

Lisa Woolrich, Adult Counselling Manager, explains 'the demand on our mental health has never been greater and many of us have seen our mental health deteriorate during the coronavirus crisis. We were keen to compliment the services available locally and are extremely excited to launch this new service.'

North Staffs Mind is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and employs highly experienced counselling staff, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers and placement students, with a varied range of specialisms. Counselling can help with many difficult life problems - from coping with traumatic experiences and events, to dealing with depression and anxiety or managing harmful emotions and behaviours.

Any surplus generated through the new services will be ploughed back into North Staffs Mind to enable the charity to provide support to more people who need their help. A number of reduced cost sessions will be made available each week to support those experiencing financial hardship.
