Speak Up Space has been supporting young people up to the age of 18 in Stoke-on-Trent via its instant messaging service since February 2019. The service began offering support just two evenings per week. There was strong demand for the service which grew to 5 evenings per week by its first birthday in February this year and now forms part of the Stay Well service offer to young people in the local area.

From next week (w/c 29/06/20) we are delighted to announce that Speak Up Space instant messaging will be available 7 days per week offering early intervention 1-2-1 support online.

To celebrate this milestone the service has also updated its website offering self-help resources to help young people manage and understand their mental health and emotional well-being as well as signposting to a range of local and national support services. As part of this improvement, the website has moved to a new domain: www.speakupspace.org.uk

The project was initially launched by Younger Mind as a direct result of fundraising from local charity Kelly's Legacy. Its success was soon apparent, and it now forms part of the Stoke on Trent Stay Well partnership which aims improve the wellbeing of children and young people in Stoke on Trent through a range of innovative services provided by Changes YP in partnership with Younger Mind and the Dove Service. Stay Well is commissioned by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Group.

Since launching in February 2019 Speak Up Space has supported over 7,000 service users via its' website and over 450 young people directly on its' instant messaging platform.
